This fish has a great taste and is therefore especially appreciated in cooking. From them you can prepare both ordinary everyday dishes and delicacies for holiday tables. Do not forget about the delicious and useful red caviar – it is extracted exclusively from salmon.
The behavior, habitat and characteristics of this family of fish, as well as the beneficial properties of salmon and fishing for these species of fish are described in this article.
Description of fish family salmon
Numerous representatives of this family are divided into several subfamilies of salmon, including cork.
Appearance

Scientists believe that these fish appeared in the Cretaceous period of the Mesozoic era. Now in their form, the representatives of this family are close to the herring.
The length of salmon reaches from several dozen centimeters to two or two and a half meters. The longest member of this family of fish is the bacon. The mass of fish of the salmon family can reach tens of kilograms.
For example, champion, thyme or salmon, in particular, can grow to weigh 60-100 kilograms. Salmon usually live for several years, on average 10 years, but there are also long-legged salmon that live up to 40-50 years. The latter includes, for example, timeline.
The body of these fish is squeezed from the sides and very stretched out. The groin is round, the fins are in the middle of the abdomen and not prickly. Another distinctive feature of salmon is small in shape fat fins. When swimming salmon, the penis is connected to the esophagus through channels, and the skeleton of some members of this family does not become bony over time. For example, the skull has a cartilage structure.
Habitat

Representatives of salmon are found both in the Pacific and Atlantic oceans, and in the seas in freshwater bodies. They are found in large amounts in freshwater bodies of Europe and northern Asia, the African continent and the northern part of the North American continent.
Note: Wild salmon is found only in the Northern Hemisphere. However, in the Southern Hemisphere, representatives of this family can only be found in artificial reservoirs and fisheries.
In the Russian Federation, salmon is often found in the Far East near the shores of Kamchatka, in the Kuril Islands near Sakhalin. Fishing for these species is organized.

How to catch more fish?

Representatives of ocean and sea salmon during breeding get into the freshwater of rivers and streams and therefore are such sparrow fish. However, some of them initially inhabit freshwater bodies, and most often in lakes.
Interestingly, these fish spawn exactly where they emerged from caviar some time ago (usually this happens in the second or third year of life).
At the same time, most fish passing through this family only survive for life. They also die after the end of the reproductive period. This is most noticeable among salmon living in the Pacific Ocean – pigeons, whales, kidneys, etc. d. However, some Atlantic salmon can spawn up to four or five times in their lifetime, although not all fish die after spawning.
During the period of reproduction, the shape of the salmon changes, and the color becomes bright saturated. There are also bright spots of red or black color, and some males “grow” a hump (so, for example, the name hump was obtained). In general, these fish are very easy and often change color and appearance – it all depends on the environment.
Species of family salmon
The most interesting and common members of these families are then examined in detail, taking into account their distinctive differences.
Home
In other cases, salmon is called “northern” or “noble.” It is the most valuable species of fish in this family, as it is famous for its delicious, gentle tenderness, containing many vitamins and trace elements. The habitat of salmon is mainly the White Sea.
Surgeons can grow to a meter exit. Their bodies are covered with silver scales, and the salmon stain on the side is not very noticeable. Salmon prefer to eat with smaller fish and rarely eat during breeding, changing their appearance. Non-smoking salmon is easy to recognize by the bright red or orange spots that appear on the sides and head.
Gorbusha
The main differences are the very small silver scales and numerous spots on the tail. During spawning, the pumpkin changes the color and shape of the body. The fins and head become almost black, the body acquires a brown color, the male grows long jaws, grows teeth and grows hump (hence the fish received its name – hump).
Usually the shrub is not very long – it reaches 65-70 centimeters. Its habitat is the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans. For spawning pigeons enter rivers, including in the North American continent and in Siberia in Russia, but for spawning does not rise so high.
There is a fairly large caviar (one caviar reaches 5-8 mm in diameter)
